San Bernardino's security community is anchored by Cal State San Bernardino, an NSA Center of Academic Excellence whose Center for Cyber and AI runs student clubs, summer camps and a free community night each fall. For working professionals, the ISC2 SoCal Inland Empire chapter meets monthly, mostly online, and the older ISSA, OWASP and DEF CON groups for the area are dormant. Larger conferences are in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Pasadena and San Diego.

CSUSB is an NSA Center of Academic Excellence.
