Modesto, CA cybersecurity events & groups
Modesto has no professional security chapter of its own. The local scene is DC209, a DEF CON group that meets at a Turlock pizza restaurant, a weekly student computer club at Modesto Junior College that covers cybersecurity, and a Google Developer Group that runs DevFest Central Valley on October 24, 2026. Most chapter meetings and conferences are in Sacramento, the East Bay or San Francisco, about one to two hours away.
Start here
- DC209 (DEF CON Group 209): The only security-focused community group in the area; free, open to all levels, and announces meetings on its Discord.
- ISC2 East Bay Fall Conference 2026: Do I Know You? Identity in the Age of AI: The nearest community-run security conference in the coverage window, about an hour away in Livermore, with student pricing.
- Modesto Junior College Computer and Information Science Club: MJC students can join weekly Thursday meetings that include cybersecurity topics.

Field notes
- DC209's last dated meeting found is May 21, 2025. Its website still says it meets most months on the third Wednesday at Pizza Factory in Turlock, but meeting notices now go out on its Discord. Join the Discord before driving over.
- No ISSA, ISACA, ISC2, OWASP, WiCyS or InfraGard chapter meets in the Modesto area. The nearest meet in Sacramento (about 75 miles north) or the East Bay; ISC2 East Bay holds its monthly meetings on Zoom.
- The Modesto Junior College club is for enrolled MJC students and covers general computing as well as security.
- DevFest Central Valley is a general developer conference. It is listed because it is the area's main tech community event, not because it has security content.
- The California Cybersecurity Education Summit in Sacramento on October 8, 2026 is open to public sector staff only.
